DAY 3: CHAGGA CULTURAL VILLAGE TOUR

Our day starts with an early Yoga session and fresh breakfast. After breakfast your guide will meet you to take you for a cultural tour where you will learn more about the indigenous Chagga people. You will have a chance to taste mbege, also known as banana beer, a traditional brew of the Chagga People.

This alcoholic drink is made from ripe fermented bananas. You will be shown how the brewing process works and for the brave hearted given a cup to taste. You will also visit a traditional Chagga house, a very efficient cone-shaped structure with one door and no windows, the roof thatched with dried grass or banana leaves.

Also, learn about the historical tribal wars between the Chagga and Maasai by visiting 200 year old tunnels and caves dug by the Chagga people as hide outs for people and their livestock who would live underground for months.
